Jekyll & Hyde
The Curiosity Cabinet presents a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novella by Whitney E. George, co-directed by George and Attilio Rigotti, running June 10-13, 2026 at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture.
“Hyde is terrifying because he is also seductive: appetite without shame, impulse without apology, the self released from the performance of being acceptable.”

About the project.
Short description
This adaptation transforms the familiar tale into an intimate theatrical experience about hidden desire, temptation, and the moment the self you have buried starts answering back. Live videography, chamber music, voice acting, lighting, and sound design fracture identity across body, image, voice, and sound.
Rather than treating Hyde as a simple embodiment of evil, the production imagines him as something more dangerous: seductive, shame-free, and terrifyingly alive.
Additional information
The production takes inspiration from recent theatrical reinterpretations of gothic literature while carving out its own sound-driven world of thresholds, doubles, rooms, locks, breath, and surveillance.
What begins as a classic story of transformation becomes a contemporary chamber thriller about repression, performance, and the dangerous pleasure of becoming unrecognizable to oneself.
