Short overview
Maeterlinck by way of the Grimms: a tower escape, a servant's borrowed name, a court that closes in. The libretto follows the princess from confinement into disguise and then into the machinery of the court, where disguise becomes the thing that undoes her.
Two acts, written for dell'Arte Opera across 2018–19. The writing sits in Whitney George's gothic register — psychologically charged, dramatically dark, formally expansive.
